    Sure, - but one can still be appropriately healthily assertive when needed. Not angry verbally or even physically.

    This is the most pathetic excuse for an apology I've ever heard. Having listened to several of your presentations I've become very aware of the fact that you have extremely poor boundaries and clearly, can't stay in the professional lane but are constantly compelled to drive in the political lane as well, no metter how inappropriate.

    I would love a video about what to do next when a client comes up with really a really close call at the end of the DML, still feeling hazy/torn/worried.

    • @FeelingGoodInstitute
      @FeelingGoodInstitute 4 місяці тому

      Hi there, thank you for responding to our video. I am thinking you mean a close call at the end of a decision making form. It can be pretty challenging with someone having very close numbers on the decision making form. When it comes to a difficult decision it is important a client uses the decision making forms multiple times throughout the week or months (depending on when they need to make the decision). The reason is because people's emotions are always shifting throughout the week or months and therefore can vary the results. I personally like to take the average of all the decision making form results. At the same time, it varies client to client because you can go multiple directions. For example, you can use a mood log to help them feel better about certain things which will shift their numbers on a decision making form. Another direction is you can do another decision making form on making a decision vs continuing to think about making a decision because sometimes maybe it is more advantageous to not make a decision at all. There are a lot of directions you could potentially go in. At the end of the day, it depends on where your patient is emotionally and where their resistance to change may be.

    Is there a difference between the self defense and counter attack technique?

    • @FeelingGoodInstitute
      @FeelingGoodInstitute 5 місяців тому

      Hi Preetika, Thank you for your thoughtful question. The Self Defense and the Counter Attack technique can sound pretty similar. The key difference is that Self Defense is providing evidence against why the negative is wrong. With the Counter Attack, you are fighting back against the negative thought as if your negative thought is a bully and you are telling them to stop.

    Thank you for doing such a concise and clear video on hopelessness, it was very helpful in getting unstuck because hopelessness can be so contagious, and then both client and therapist are stuck in a state of hopelessness. having several panelists was helpful too, because I could get many different ways of getting to the same point. It was wonderful.

    Thanks for putting up this interesting video, Richard and Indrani! Could you clarify if the evidence in the second column has to counter the evidence in the first column, or does the client write two independent sets of evidence for and against the NT? Further, how is this technique different from a regular CBA please? Regards

    • @FeelingGoodInstitute
      @FeelingGoodInstitute 8 місяців тому

      Hi there, great question! There are different ways of doing the Examine the Evidence technique. You can either write Independent sets of evidence, write evidence against the negative, or both. It is different from a Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) because it goes into evidence about whether or not the thought is true or not. The CBA goes over the advantages and disadvantages of having the thought.

    I realize this is unrelated, however, I am having a good deal of trouble with my aunt. She is 88, lost her husband two years ago, and is a narcissist. I have a lot of trouble dealing with the nice/mean, gaslighting, etc. I am not used to being treated so poorly when trying to be helpful to her. I make an innocent comment, and somehow it gets twisted into a ten minute tirade. It's very toxic there. I threatened to leave, she tried to block me from leaving, tried to get my keys, etc. I finally got to leave, after being threatened with, " it's all your fault if I hurt myself..." I am at a loss here.
